Volunteer Opportunites On Site

On site, Kids' Food Basket welcomes all volunteers ages kindergarten and up.
Sunday through Friday, we have an average of 85 volunteers per day on site serving Kids' Food Basket in many different ways. Some of these include:
- Drivers: Drivers come to Kids' Food Basket on a scheduled day each week, between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. to deliver sack suppers to assigned schools. Depending on your location, driving usually takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. You can contact Austin, program coordinator, at (616) 235-4532 or at austin@kidsfoodbasket.org if you would like to become a driver, add yourself to the substitute driver list or would like more information.
- Office/Administrative Assistance: There are many important jobs our staff does each day that allow us to communicate the important information to our volunteers and donors. If you like working with computers, are good with words, or are creative, this might be perfect for you! Thank you letters, helping with events, volunteer appreciation activities, and database work are just a few ways you can help! Email kathie@kidsfoodbasket.org, interim manager of volunteers, if you can help.
- Packers and Sandwich Makers: Packing takes place every Sunday through Friday and sandwich making every Sunday through Thursday. Throughout most of the school year and summer we have opportunities during the day, after school, in the evenings, and on Sunday afternoons. You can contact Kathie, Interim Manager of Volunteer Services, at (616) 235-4532 or at kathie@kidsfoodbasket.org to talk about specific details for yourself or a group.
- Facilitating: Facilitators are an extraordinary group of volunteers who facilitate and manage one evening volunteer session each month. These evening sessions are filled with volunteer groups (churches, neighborhoods, corporations, etc.) that make sandwiches and pack sack suppers under the direction and leadership of the facilitators. After training, the facilitators are in charge of the group and take on a great deal of responsibility ranging from teaching new volunteers about Kids' Food Basket to making sure that the correct amount of sack suppers are prepared and all health code procedures are followed. Contact austin@kidsfoodbasket.org for more information.
