Our education program promotes healthy development through lessons about what nutritious food is, where it comes from and why it matters. This program is offered to educators in elementary schools partnered with our Sack Supper program.

Kent County Kids’ Food Basket Farm + Headquarters

1300 Plymouth Ave NE, Grand Rapids

Buses drop off and pick up participants at the red KFB building on the southeast side of the parking lot. Buses can park along the service drive at the end of Plymouth Ave NE or along the cedar fence entering the KFB parking lot.

Kids’ Food Basket Farm – Ottawa + Allegan On the Ridge

104th Ave, Holland

Buses drop off and pick up participants at the red KFB building entrance. Buses can park in parking lot.

Muskegon County Kids’ Food Basket

2330 Barclay St, Muskegon

Buses drop off participants at the main entrance. Buses can park in the back parking lot. Buses may pick up participants at the red KFB Education Center.

To ensure a positive and successful learning experience for everyone, all onsite lessons require a minimum chaperone ratio of one adult for every ten students. We ask that teachers and chaperones help students stay on schedule and follow KFB guidelines during activities. Thank you for partnering with us to create an engaging educational experience!

Sample Lesson Itinerary

At KFB (1.5 to 2 hours)

Kids’ Food Basket Rules or Guidelines

Explore and ask questions if you are curious!
Use walking feet and stay behind your leader.
Stay a school bus length away from all running farm equipment. Please do not climb on or touch equipment.
Only touch plants when given instructions. Use gentle “pincher fingers” when observing them!
Be brave when tasting new things, but only if you are instructed to by the leader.
Bees are our pollinator pals! Leave them bee and they will leave you bee.
Most importantly, have FUN!

Arrive and unload buses. Introductions to KFB and our team and review the agenda for the day.

Seasonally-dependent rotational activities:

Tour growing space, greenhouse, sensory gardens and container gardens
Tour warehouse and volunteer operations
Plant seeds and see composting methods

Conclusion and wrap-up

Please print a copy of the following to send home for your parents or guardians to sign. Completed forms should be brought with you on the day of your lesson so our team photographer can capture media during your visit.
